Intermediate Classes:
1st AUGUST to 28 NOVEMBER
Where: Woods St Art Space, Laverton Tuesdays 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Pricing Intermediate: (5 WEEK COURSE)
New Members Standard Price: Adult $100 – Full 5 week course.
Casual Class: $25 (Minimum of 4 people required to run workshop)
New Beginners Only Classes:
JUNE TO DECEMBER: THURSDAYS
Where: Saltwater Community Centre, Point Cook, Thursdays 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Pricing Beginners Class: (4 WEEK COURSE)

This is a FREE event for all ages.
African & Samba Beats live performance presented by Wyndham’s own Beat Factor Drum Group.
The Beat Factor Drum Group and its students will be performing their own brand of African and Samba Beats at the Point Cook Pop UP Park on Saturday June 26th
(3-4.30pm) and Soho Village Pop Up Park, July 9th-(5.00pm -6.30pm)
Come down, have some fun and be part of this free community event.
Enjoy the sound of the African Drums and the infectious rhythms of the Samba beats.

Emerge Cultural Network Gathering for artists and community members from Indigenous and culturally diverse backgrounds in Wyndham and surrounding areas.
Rod from Beat Factor was invited by the Leadership Network, sponsored by Multicultural Arts Victoria, to speak on his background, music education and his music business, Beat Factor Music. Other discussions were on setting goals and planning strategies in order to build on your Arts business in the Wyndham area.
- Met artists and community leaders from our neighbourhood;
• Rod Pilois from Beat Factor talked about his journey setting up a music business in Wyndham;
• Shared a meal and made new connections;
• Found out about upcoming opportunities.

SALTWATER_JANUARY Drum wkshops
Aims:
- Create a fun, challenging and rewarding experience in a safe and non-intimidating environment which inspires learning
- Provide a hands-on intercultural experience through drumming
- Introduce African and other world drumming cultures to our community in Wyndham
- To work collaboratively with organizations and community networks to develop and enhance the Arts through drumming activities.
- Drumming workshops will offered to all ages, from those new to drums to those who have a sense of rhythm and who would like to play.
- Workshops will cover drumming techniques and repertoire from around the world such as, African, Brazilian, Caribbean, Middle-Eastern to name a few.
- Authentic instruments (drums, bells, rattles) will be used in workshops
- No musical experience or ability to read musical notation necessary
- Teaching and learning will be through – ‘Listen’, ‘watch’ and ‘Play’
- Oral learning by sound syllables – ‘drum sounds’
- Drum grid tablature provided for those interested
Outcomes
- Comprehend and articulate the connection between culture and musical practice in West African and other world drumming traditions.
- Develop and enhance individual practical skills in rhythm.
- Develop an appreciation and critical understanding of complex rhythmic interaction in ensemble playing transferrable to a range of musical contexts.
