VCE SCHOOL CAMP- DAYLESFORD
Emmanuel College, Point Cook
A full day of 6 one hour workshops with the VCE students, where we started with some stretching and warm ups, followed by applying some basic techniques to the percussion instruments. We worked through a series of rhythmic patterns on the djembe and dun duns as well as learning some Samba rhythms. Each workshop concluded with the group putting all their parts together and playing one to two arrangement pieces together as an ensemble. A great day of drumming in the wide open spaces.
School Holiday Program- Kaleidoscope Program-Kingston Arts
Kingston City Hall, Moorabbin, Victoria, Melbourne.
It was a great pleasure to be part of the Kaleidoscope school holiday program in April, run by Kingston Arts. It was fun and a great experience for the primary and secondary school age students trying out all the various percussion instruments and learning new rhythms together. Good positive feedback was received from students and parents after the workshops.
Connecting with Nature Workshops
Newport Lakes, Victoria, Melbourne.
Connecting with nature through sounds and rhythm. The year 8 students had a great time exploring sounds using the various percussion instruments, from shakers, bells, rain sticks to the low thunderous sound of the Surdo Drums. The high and mid tones of the small and medium size djembe drums also helped to achieve an overall balanced sound with the year 8 group in the workshops on the day.
